Catholic distance learning is in some ways a misnomer. You might be tempted to think that it is only intended for those who have an interest in learning more about the Roman Catholic Church. However, it is not only about this. Catholic university distance learning is offered in a wide variety of courses apart from theology.

So why would some students attend a catholic university over a secular college?

The most popular reason is their desire to acquire higher education with a Christian focus. Many of these students are Christians or have an interest in Western religion.

Distance learning allows you to take courses in comfort of your own home via the internet. In a few cases, you may be required to go to a nearby facility to have classes via video link. Either way, doing courses via distance education is far more convenient than having to fight traffic to attend a college that is far away.

It should come as no surprise that catholicism and distance education have come together. The Church has helped to preserve religious writings and other manuscripts throughout the ages. The most notable being the bible, which is seen by many as the greatest distance learning tool ever.

One of the top catholic distance learning institutions is the Catholic Distance University. This institution is accredited by the Distance Education Training Council (DETC) and approved approved by the Vatican Congregation for the Clergy. It offers undergraduate and post graduate programs in theology.
